JIAL was initially known as Newton Lee Insurance Services, started in 1999 by owners Robert Newton and Ken Lee. It was then that the company had various Insurance lines, one of which was commercial insurance for Chinese Restaurants and Takeaways, complete with a team of bilingual staff based out of China Town in Newcastle.

The staff have now merged into JIAL HQ and the team has grown too, with Newton Lee brand still in operation today. Now a team of bilingual and native mandarin and Cantonese speakers, they continue to specialise in insurance for Chinese restaurants and takeaways across the UK.

The JIAL group expanded our distribution and Travel Insurance portfolio in 2022 with the acquisition of Alpha Underwriting from CPP Secure Limited.

This deal saw us grow our broker network and provide Alpha’s general insurance brokers with access to Aneevo – our technology platform that provides brokers with access to our panel of insurance products.
